Alinhamento da Lua – Vénus – Júpiter – Fevereiro 2012

PARTE 1

Crescent Moon, Venus and Jupiter triple align

peak at February 26th

«On Saturday and again Sunday, Venus, Jupiter and Earth’s moon converge for a brilliant night show. Venus and Jupiter already are lining up in the western sky. In mid-February, the two planets were 20 degrees apart from a viewing perspective. The gap narrows to 10 degrees by month’s end.

A crescent moon joins the show this weekend for a triple combination. The celestial encounter will be visible from around the world at twilight. The moon will appear closer to Venus on Saturday and closer to Jupiter on Sunday.

The moon then retreats from view, but Venus and Jupiter keep drawing closer. The two planets will be just 3 degrees apart by mid-March».

«Use the moon to verify that you’ve found Venus in late February 2012, as the thin lunar crescent passes close to Venus on the evenings of February 24 and 25 and 26. Best yet, Mercury will be returning to the evening sky in this part of February, so you can draw an imaginary line from Jupiter through Venus to locate Mercury near the horizon about 45 to 75 minutes after sunset. We tell you more about Mercury below».
